PNG to JPG: When to Convert and How

JPG works well for photos that do not need transparency. Keep the PNG if you need a transparent background or sharp edges in a logo, screenshot, or text-heavy graphic.

How to Convert Multiple PNG Files to JPG

Follow these steps for one file or several. You can check each JPG before downloading.

01

Add your PNG files

Choose or drag in up to 20 PNGs. Each file can be up to 10 MB and 40 megapixels. You can add more files after the first selection.

02

Choose one JPG quality setting

Move the slider toward more detail or more compression. The setting applies to every image in the batch; select any file to inspect its JPG preview.

03

Download one JPG or the whole ZIP

Download the selected JPG on its own, or download all converted JPGs in one ZIP file. Each image keeps its original width and height.

Keep the Detail You Need

JPG uses lossy compression, so converting PNG to JPG without any loss of image data is not possible. Start with the default quality, then use the preview to check small text, edges, and fine texture before downloading.

A lower quality setting may make photo files smaller, but it can also introduce visible artifacts. The final size depends on the image, so a JPG is not guaranteed to be smaller than its PNG source.

Transparent PNGs Become White-Background JPGs

JPG cannot store transparency. This converter fills fully and partly transparent pixels with white before exporting, so a cutout or product image will not get a black background.

White is the fixed background color here. Keep your original PNG if you need transparency later, or add your preferred background color to the PNG before converting.

Convert Without Uploading Your Images

Your PNGs are opened and converted locally in your browser; they are not uploaded for processing. That is useful when you are preparing personal photos, work graphics, or application documents.

You can use the same page on a phone, Mac, or Windows computer. For large batches, keep in mind that your device must hold and process the images locally.

PNG to JPG Questions

Answers about batch conversion, JPG quality, white backgrounds, and privacy.

How do I convert multiple PNG files to JPG at once?

Select or drag in up to 20 PNGs, set the JPG quality for the whole batch, and choose Download all as ZIP. You can also select an image to preview it or download that JPG alone.

Is there a limit on batch PNG to JPG conversion?

You can add up to 20 PNGs per batch. Each file must be no larger than 10 MB or 40 megapixels, and the batch can contain up to 120 megapixels in total. If you reach a limit, remove a few large files and try again.

Can I convert PNG to JPG without losing quality?

JPG compression changes image data, so a truly lossless conversion is not possible. Choose a higher quality setting and inspect the preview if fine detail matters. Keep the PNG as your original.

Why does a JPG sometimes have a black background after conversion?

PNG can have transparent areas, but JPG cannot. If a converter does not place a background behind them, they may look black. This tool uses a fixed white background for transparent and partly transparent areas.

Is it safe to convert PNG to JPG online?

This converter opens and processes your PNG files in your browser. Your images are not uploaded for conversion, and the JPGs or ZIP are created on your device.

Will converting PNG to JPG make my files smaller?

It often does for photos, especially at lower quality settings, but the result depends on the source image. Conversion does not guarantee a smaller file.

Are JPG and JPEG the same format?

Yes. JPG and JPEG refer to the same image format. The shorter .jpg extension became common because older systems limited file extensions to three characters.
